Colourful Doors

And yes, a grouping of a few of the colourful doors. No pink or purple doors....I haven't seen any of either of those colours here yet, but you can bet if I do, I'll share it/them with you!

Door Frame Decorations: Babies and Cherubs

Looking back over the doors I have already posted, I have to say that I'm surprised at how certain elements appear over and over again. Faces and heads; sure...lions;ok....babies;really?? Well, here is proof that babies/cherubs are also a popular element in door frames!!

Door and Door Frame Ornaments: Animals I

I have yet to discover why lions are a favourite decoration on doors and door frames. Granted, a great number of birds - usually eagles - find their way over doors (and no, I am not talking about pigeons!), however, the big cats appear to be preferred not only on the door itself, but on door frames, door knockers and even, as you might have noticed in the handle collage, on door handles.

Once again, all of the above images come from earlier posts...can you find which ones?

Door Accessories

Peepholes, chatting grills*, mail slots and hand holes...here is a collection of some that you have seen in my earlier posts.

*This is my term for those square-shaped metal grills that are used not only for looking through, but allow people on both sides to talk without opening the door.

Not All Smiles, But Some!

More eyes watching you. Some smile, some frown, some look angry and others look a bit bored...and some even look like they might be in a bit of pain!! Take a look back through my earlier posts to find the doors these faces 'live' on.

Not Alone

In this day and age, cameras watch over us in most public places, but don't forget that we are also (and have been for centuries) being watched by 'others'...

NOTE: Like the handles in the previous post, the above faces have been taken from door frames of doors that I have already posted. If you are curious, take a look back in the posts to see if you can find them!! These faces are in stone or other such material. My next post will have faces carved in wood.

Getting a handle on things...

OK, OK...I don't blame you for being annoyed with me. It's my fault for having told you to watch this space then not returning for so long. It has been a busy, hectic and full summer AND my camera broke AND I had an operation on my eyes. So please forgive me for the long absence...I didn't forget, I just couldn't get back until now. And as you can see from the above, I am trying to get a HANDLE (haha! pun intended!!) on things and promise to get back to steady door blogging as of 1 September. REALLY!!

Until then, I will occasionally be posting images that have already been posted, however, they will be presented in a different way. As you can see, today you have a collection of some of the many interesting handles from previously blogged doors. I like seeing them all together...having the possibility to compare them makes you realise just how interesting and unique they each are. What do you think?
