Colourful Door Monday

In nature, red is a colour that puts animals on the alert and is the color that tells them to 'watch out!'. In our world, red is often used in the same way i.e. a red light at an intersection, a red Stop sign, a red blinking light that could represent an alarm, etc. When I saw this red door and what it is to, I right away went into a state of alert. It is the German Embassy and the German Embassy found it necessary to put 3 (yes, THREE) surveillance cameras on it.

I took all this as a warning sign for me to keep my distance and to not get any closer..how could I...I was too scared!! If I had had the courage, I would have gone up to the door handle and taken a picture of it. Sorry!

Shocking!

My first reaction to this door was shock!! What a shocking shade of red!! Sure, I've seen red doors before and have even already posted a few here, but THIS red is really 'out there'. My shock was joined by amusement once I walked up to this door. Why? Because the faces on the doors (I've attached a picture of each of them), seem to be a bit embarrassed by the shade of red they have become!! Poor ladies!! Talk about being 'red in the face'...this door is literally just that!!

Colourful Door Monday

Monday!! Eye candy day!! Well, I try to make every day (except Saturday) eye-candy day, but Mondays are special because there is always a colour to look forward to!! I think we all have liked all the colours, but red does seem to be a favourite. This nice door was recently repainted and I think the designs on it were also worked on at the same time. It appears that they changed the handle though...to something less than exciting. Oh well, we can't have it all now, can we?!

Sunday Church Door

Once again, we are looking at a side entrances to a church (the main entrance to this church is much grander). I don't know how often this entrance is used, but apparently enough that they could not leave it as it was so they updated it with a new (old-looking) door in a bright red (!!). Personally, I am not impressed. It is all flash, but has no heart (unlike my very first door on 14 February which was also red like this, but had lots of heart)...this just looks out of place to me, but who am I to criticise it? Just a simple passer-by. Though when I see a bright red door on a church I have the impression that somewhere in the heavens there are angels sighing...or giggling. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? Oh well, it certainly makes for good conversation!

A red door and a lion to watch over it...what else can you ask for?

Colourful Monday

Ahh...the one good thing about Monday...it's colour day!! Yay! And today's colour is RED (well, it is more of an earthy red than a blood red!)!! We haven't seen this colour since Valentine's Day (the day I started this blog!). Well, this door is not as extravagant as that door was, but this one is in an entirely different ballpark than that one, too.

This door has a bit of both an Art Nouveau and an Art Deco feel to it... this doesn't mean that it is from either of these periods (it could have been made more recently), but as those styles have long been popular, they are used and reused and we fall for them every time (or at least I do!). No matter what, the decoration on this door made me think of Spring and since we have officially entered into Spring, I offer you this Spring-ish door!! Enjoy, and have a nice, sunny day.

P.S. Unfortunately, the handle on this door was not worth photographing up close.

A Valentine's Day Door

To kick off Valentine's Day and my first blog entry, I've found a nice red door for you. Look closely and you'll see that it is covered with red roses (well, maybe not exactly roses, but just pretend they are, ok?) - so I guess the only thing missing is a box of chocolates!
